 At Children's Village, Lakota children have a safe place to live and receive culturally competent care. Wakanyeja Tiospaye O'Tipi, also known as Children's Village, provides culturally appropriate emergency, long term, and adoptive placements for children with no other options.
Since this non-profit began in 1982, the program has provided services to approximately 5,000 Oglala Lakota children on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Wakanyeja Tiospaye O'Tipi provides: • for the basic needs of the child during their placement in Children's Village • support to families who have children that have received services from Children's Village
Wakanyeja Tiospaye O'Tipi also works to strengthen networks between programs that create safe homes for foster children on the Pine Ridge Reservation. In Fiscal Year 2207, Running Strong provide support for general operating expenses.
