COLORADO

Denver Indian Family Resource Center summer campers in 2005.The Centers for Disease Control reported that among the five major racial and ethnic populations in the US, adult smoking was highest among American Indians and Alaska Natives, at 34.1% of the population.

Unhealthy behaviors plague Native American populations due to extreme poverty and other factors. Running Strong for American Indian Youth believes that every child deserves a healthy future.

Running Strong supports programs in Colorado that teach Indian youth healthy and safe choices to provide a culturally relevant framework for living.
