Holiday Parties

Running Strong supports holiday partiesAmerican Indian children growing up on the Reservation must face a difficult life of poverty and geographic isolation. Yet, we are always amazed at how these young people face their circumstances with dignity and vitality.

Running Strong believes it is important to let these children know they are not forgotten, especially during the holiday seasons.

From the beginning, we have offered support to festivities that bring together children, elders and families for activities such as traditional meals, stories, and songs.

Running Strong writes annual grants to support holiday celebrations across Indian country.

These celebrations support traditional Native American culture, through programs such as youth adopting elders and making them special gifts, and bring joy to families through toy drives, screenings of family films, healthy meals, and more.

Running Strong provided holiday support to:
• Cheyenne River Youth Project®’s Holiday Program, including a nationwide toy drive and holiday festivities, in Eagle Butte, SD
The Center Pole’s Holiday Party in Garryowen, MT
• The Annual Tipi Waste Un Zanipi Christmas party in Porcupine, SD
• Indian Youth of America’s Annual Christmas Party in Sioux City, IA
• Cheyenne River Elderly Nutrition Program’s Annual Christmas Celebration in Eagle Butte, SD
• The Little White Buffalo Project's Christmas celebration in Rapid City, SD
• Madan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation’s Social Services’ Christmas Party in New Town, ND
• The Living Hope celebration in Tulsa, OK
• Cheyenne River Elderly Nutrition Program’s Annual Christmas Celebration in Eagle Butte, SD
