Cheyenne River Youth Project®'s Home Repair Assistance

ImageProject: Small Home Repair Project
Organization: Cheyenne River Youth Project®
Year: 2006-Present
Tribe: Cheyenne River Lakota (Sioux)
Reservation: Cheyenne River Reservation
Location: Eagle Butte, SD

For many families, keeping their homes in good condition and making regular repairs can be a daunting task. Even if they have the skills necessary to repair their home, most lack the materials and resources to do so.

The Cheyenne River Youth Project® offers small grants for individual families to make basic repairs to their homes.

For the most part, the family will provide the labor, with the help of Cheyenne River Youth Project® volunteers who are available when necessary. The Cheyenne River Youth Project® also offers assistance in connecting families with donors for household furniture like beds, dresser, tables, bathroom fixtures and other items. Families make all requests through the Family Services Program and receive assistance as soon as a donor is found.

Running Strong provided general support for this program.
