The Native American Youth Enrichment Program (NAYEP) is the only summer camp in the greater Boston area that serves the needs of American Indian children.
The camp provides low-income American Indian families in Boston with the opportunity to help their children continue preparing for school, both academically and socially, during summer months.
NAYEP also seeks to bring community children together to celebrate and learn about their Native American heritage.
Native youth attending the camp participate in a variety of activities including: • group reading and journal writing • sports such as lacrosse, basketball, and kickball • talent shows • mentoring • a Native American Identities Program that includes field trips to different locations to increase awareness of campers’ Native heritage.
Running Strong provides general support to the camp and provided the funding for four junior counselor positions.
