MUSIC FROM THE STANDING HORSE SINGERS AT THE RUNNING STRONG E-STORE
cdlg
The RUNNING STRONG E-STORE featuring the cd "The Beginning" by the Standing Horse Singers as the item of the month for March.

This outstanding young drum group includes young Native American men and women from all over the Dakotas and into Nebraska.

They first started out as a small group of powwow singers that loved to sing and wanted to express themselves.

They sat down and couldn’t figure out what to call themselves and the name came up as “Standing Horse”, almost as if a spirit were helping them and telling them that it was a good name. Ever since then they’ve been known as this.

In 2008, the www.powwows.com webstite came up with the idea to start a sort of competition like the American Idol, but instead called Powwow Idol.

Different drum groups submitted their music and were eliminated week by week and the winner came to be Standing Horse.

As a prize for their accomplishment, they were awarded a free recording deal, a host job at the 2008 Red Earth Festival and Pow Wow in Oklahoma and a chance to sing on a “powwow cruise”.

Since then, the Standing Horse singers have travelled to many different places across “Indian Country” and overseas spreading their music to the people’s enjoyment.
