NEW JEWELRY AT THE RUNNING STRONG E-STORE |
The RUNNING STRONG E-STORE has new beautiful jewelry, hand-crafted by American Indian artisans. This month we are featuring this beautiful coral, onyx and mother of pearl Lady Necklace: This handmade sterling silver necklace depicts a lady and is made from coral, onyx and mother-of-pearl inlays. Approximately 3/4 of an inch tall, this necklace would be the perfect gift for the mother or daughter in your life. Before European contact, native metalwork consisted primarily of hammering and etching copper into pendants or earrings and fashioning copper and silver into beads. After Navajo, Hopi and Pueblo artists learned silversmithing from the Spanish in the 1800's, metal jewelry arts blossomed in the southwest. Many designs seen today are a reflection of the Spanish silversmithing techniques blended with traditional patterns.
