Over half of Running Strong for American Indian Youth’s programs are Lakota (Sioux), based on the Great Plains, primarily on the Pine Ridge and Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota where the need is great.
For this reason we invite you to take a closer look at these two Reservations and the unique challenges each one faces.
Running Strong also runs many programs in urban regions of South Dakota where communities are struggling with above average rates of substance abuse, school drop-out and suicide rates among American Indian youth.
Our programs range from language classes to food pantries, all designed to nurture and support the next generation of leaders growing up in Indian Country.
